Ducks Claim Ben Maxwell Off Waivers

The Ducks have claimed center Ben Maxwell off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets. Maxwell was played only 4 games this season with the Jets, posting 0 points with a -2 rating. In his 36 NHL games, he has 1 goal and 1 assist with a -12 rating.

This will be Maxwell’s 4th NHL team. He was drafted 49th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. After playing with the Canadiens he was picked up by the Thrashers and moved with the rest of the team to the Winnipeg Jets.

Obviously not picked up for his offensive ability, Maxwell does have some abilities the Ducks need. On October 22nd against the Carolina Hurricanes, he posted an 87.50% on the faceoff. Most of the time when he does play, Maxwell only plays a few shifts for the entire game.

Not a game changing type of player and not what the Ducks currently need to get out of their slump. He’ll probably get sent down to the Syracuse Crunch.
