Emerson Etem Named WHL Player of the Month
By Editorial Staff
The Western Hockey League has named Ducks prospect Emerson Etem the player of the month September/October.
Etem has been on an absolute tear this season down with the Medicine Hat Tigers! At the age of 19, Etem is one of the top prospects the Ducks have. In my opinion, he IS the best prospect we have.
He currently has 31 points in 15 games, leading the entire WHL in goals with 21. He also has 10 helpers and a +/- rating of +13 so far this season. He also has a current 15 game point streak, in which he has scored a goal in 14 of those games.
Needless to say, Etem is a complete boss.
He has helped lead the Tigers to an 11-5-0 start, which puts them second in the Western Conference. He has been in the three star selections 12 times, 5 of which were the first star.
Etem was not chosen for the Ducks starting roster this season, but he did sign an NHL Entry level contract. It was a good move keeping him down in the WHL, this way he could get way more ice time and on the first line at that.
It seemed we wouldn’t need him, due to the 4-0-1 start, but the Ducks recent skid may show that we could use his talent. If the Ducks can’t put in the goals and continue to slack with the shots on goal, Etem needs to be brought up for some NHL time.
