Nashville Predators Shut Down the Ducks
By Editorial Staff
Much like the Ducks game against the Dallas Stars, the Nashville Predators showed up, and the Ducks didn’t.
The Preds played a very defense oriented system, shutting down everything the Ducks tried (which wasn’t much). It was a very frustrating game to watch.
Game Recap:
First Period: Just 14 seconds in and the Patric Hornqvist gives the Preds the lead (NSH-1, ANA-0). With about 7 minutes left, Mike Fisher took a nasty head shot from Francois Beauchemin. We can expect a suspension from Shanahan sometime tomorrow. Martin Erat scores his first goal of the season after missing 8 games with an upper body injury (NSH-2, ANA-0).
Second Period:
No goals were scored this period. It was a relatively slow period. The Ducks put up more shots, but were unable to convert on anything.
Third Period: Shea Weber sent a beast shot from the blue line to score on the powerplay (NSH-3, ANA-0). The Ducks put up a lackluster effort, only putting up 3 shots, making Pekka Rinne’s job insanely easy.
Game Stats:
- The Ducks were out shot 20-29.
- Shea Weber led all defensemen in ice time with 27:29
- Dave Legwand led all forwards in ice time with 22:46
- This was game 3 of their 7 game road trip, where they have only snagged 2 points
- Corey Perry’s 6 game point streak ended tonight
- Pekka Rinne has started all 10 games for the Preds this season
Not the best performance. I would like to see some jumbling of the lines (yes, even RPG line). Maybe call up Emerson Etem and see if he can light a spark for the team.
