Preview of Game 8: Chicago Blackhawks

I here so many people saying that this is the greatest jersey in hockey/sports history………but I don’t get it. It’s not that great………………………………………Here’s my preview:

The Blackhawks are coming off a shoot out loss to the hot Colorado Avalanche on saturday night. It was an offensive battle between one of the favorites in the conference and one of the huge surprises of the early season. The Blackhawks came back from a 3-1 deficit starting late in the second. They successfully took the lead in the third period but allowed a game tying goal with less than two minutes left in the game. Then, in overtime, Chicago had the better of the chances but could not notch a game winner. So the game went into a shoot out where Viktor Stalberg, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were all denied by Semyon Varlamov. In Colorado’s third shoot out attempt, Joakim Lindstrom beat Crawford to give Colorado yet another win.

The Blackhawks have one of the most talented rosters in the league and can beat any team at any time. Besides the superstars of Toews and Kane, they also have stars in Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Andrew Brunette and Dave Bolland. Then on the blue line, they have superstars Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith along with very solid defenseman in players like Nick Leddy and former Duck Sean O’Donnell. Corey Crawford in net has been stellar so far. So, this team is very good at every position on the ice.

Players to Watch:

  • CHI – F – Marian Hossa: He has scored a goal in four straight games and a fifth straight game with a goal would be a career high. He also has five goals and one assist in his last six games against the Ducks.
  • CHI – D – Duncan Keith: It seems like this guy never has a bad game. He certainly had a good one against Colorado, including two assists.
  • ANA – G – It is not confirmed who will play tonight in net for the Ducks, but whoever it is will have to have a monster game.
  • ANA – F – Ryan Getzlaf: He needs continue to improve this season. I feel like he’s gotten better in every game. He needs to be physical and use his body to create opportunities for his superb-scoring forwards.

If the Ducks play the way they play in the past few games, it could be a long night against the Chicago offense. Whoever is in net, which I think it should be Hiller because I’d want him out there again after such a bad start, will have to play a very good game. The Blackhawks will pepper the net with shots and they will get there chances. This will be a very tough game for the Ducks, especially the way things have been going for them lately.
