Ducks Recall Jacques and Maroon

The Anaheim Ducks have recalled Jean-Francois Jacques and Patrick Maroon from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.

Jacques appeared in four contests with Syracuse this season, collecting one assist with twopenalty minutes and an even plus/minus rating. He also appeared in 3 pre-season games before he got suspended for the rest of the pre-season and 5 additional regular season games for leaving the bench with the sole intention of fighting.

I have no idea why he has been recalled. My personal opinion is that he serves no purpose on this team. Sure, he can hit and throw some punches. But so can Parros, Getzlaf Smith-Pelly and Sbisa (as we saw last night).

Maroon on the other hand, is a beast.

Maroon was recalled earlier to replace an injured Jason Blake, but was sent back down

before he even got to play a game. The Ducks announced today that he has been recalled, and is practicing with the team today in Chicago.

Maroon played 57 games with the Crunch last season where he scored 21 goals and added 27 assists. He appeared in six games with Syracuse this season, collecting 4 goals and 4 assists with a +6 rating and 15 penalty minutes. Maroon also scored 1 goal in two pre-season games with the Ducks.

Maroon has a ton of potential and could solve some of our offensive woes. Although it is going to take a lot more than just him to get the Ducks back on their winning streak, it is a start.
