Stars Dominate the Ducks

The Ducks weren’t able to keep their 4 game winning streak going tonight as they lost to the Dallas Stars 3-1. The Ducks are now 4-2-0 for the season. Both teams were on hot streaks, but the Stars showed that they plan to be top dogs in the league.

Plain and simple: The Stars showed up, the Ducks didn’t.

Goal recap:

First Period: Loui Eriksson scores 13 seconds into the game (Dal-1, Ana-0). The Ducks make a bad turnover and Mike Ribeiro scores (Dal-2, Ana-0). Game starts to get a little rougher between the two teams.

Second Period: Lehtonen keeps up his dominating performance this season. Ducks keep shooting, but are unable to score. Cam Fowler scores on the powerplay, but it is waived off due to Perry interfering Lehtonen. The refs seem to be turning the other cheek to come sketchy hits from both teams. Parros gets away with a head shot, as well as Souray late in the period. Corey Perry buries a rebound with 0.1 seconds left in the second (Dal-2, Ana-1).

Third Period: Loui Eriksson scores after ANOTHER Ducks turnover (Dal-3, Ana-1). Carlyle starts to randomly switch around the lines, most notable putting Beleskey with Getzlaf and Perry. Ryan was on a line with Koivu and Selanne. Lehtonen stops everything the Ducks try and continue to dominate. Ducks registered 14 shots in the third, but couldn’t get anything past Lehtonen.

Stats:

  • This is the first game this season the Ducks have trailed at home.
  • Hiller stopped 16/19 shots, Lehtonen stopped 35/36
  • Visnovsky again led all defensemen in ice time with 28:02
  • Corey Perry led all forwards in ice time with 24:06
  • Dallas has been outshot 170-119 during their winning streak

I do believe that Lehtonen was too far out of the crease and Fowler’s goal in the second was waived off, but the refs aren’t ENTIRELY to blame. They made awful calls the whole game, but the Stars brought their A-game. The Ducks were sloppy and had a ton of careless mistakes.
