Ducks Win Third Straight, Make Roster Cuts
By Editorial Staff
The past few days the Ducks made two more roster cuts lowering their roster to 28 players.
Assigned to Syracuse Crunch (AHL):
- Jean-Francois Jacques (LW)
- Iiro Tarkki (G)
- Bryan Rodney (D)
Waivers:
- Patrick Maroon (LW)
Jacques was suspended for the rest of pre-season as well as the first 5 regular season games. He left the bench of a legal line change for the sole purpose of getting into a fight. Tarkki showed some solid goaltending, but it is pretty obvious who the top 3 goaltenders are.
The Ducks also faced the Vancouver Canucks yesterday and won 3-2.
Like I always say, pre-season isn’t very important, but this game did show some promise for the upcoming season. The Ducks faced most of Vancouver’s starting lineup and ended the game in classic Ducks “edge of your seat” action.
Jonas Hiller had a strong performance, stopping 31 of 33 shots faced. The Ducks received goals from Cam Fowler, Bobby Ryan and Lubomir Visnovsky (PP). In the final minutes of the game, Andrew Gordon received a hooking penalty and shortly after Nate Guerin received a boarding minor, forcing the Ducks to defend 6 on 3. Hiller made stop after stop and the Ducks took the win.
I am loving the look of the Ducks right now and if they can play this way in regular season, we are in for a great season!!
