Ducks Lose First Pre-Season Game

It is great to have hockey again!! Yeah I know, it’s pre-season and it doesn’t really matter but I still love watching it. It is a great way to watch some prospects in actual games and check out players you normally do not get to see play.

The Ducks lost 7-4 to the Phoenix Coyotes in a rather sloppy game for both teams. The Ducks got goals from Sean Zimmerman, Kyle Palmieri Andrew Cogliano and Nate Guenin. After each goal, the Coyotes managed to tally one relatively quickly and kept their lead.

What Carlyle had to say on the game:

“We have to work on defensive zone coverage,” said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. “It’s all part of the process. If you look at our lineup, we played a lot of kids. That is what it’s designed for. You give kids an opportunity to get a taste of what the NHL is about.”

That is exactly what happened. You could tell some of the rookies struggled to keep up with some of the veterans on the ice. But it is a good experience for them to get a taste of the NHL.

Emerson Etem made a fantastic play to send the puck to Palmieri who buried the puck. Peter Holland also looked solid and managed to set up Cogliano for a goal. Andrew Cogliano also looked solid, who scored a goal and had a breakaway that ended up being stopped by McElhinney.

The Ducks host the San Jose Sharks tonight. Veterans Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan and Parros are expected to be in the lineup. Fowler, Beauchemin, Sbisa and Brookbank will also be in the lineup.
