Ruslan Salei’s wife released a brief statement regarding her husband’s passing.
“On behalf of the Salei family, I want to express my sincere thanks to the entire hockey community, including all of Ruslan’s friends and fans, for the overwhelming love and support. While this is an extremely difficult time for us, the outpouring of affection our family has received has been comforting. As much as Ruslan enjoyed playing hockey, he loved the camaraderie he had with his teammates, the team staffs, and the fans that much more.
Ruslan was the love of my life, and I’m extremely grateful to have our three beautiful children. He treasured his family life with us, and we miss him dearly.”
There was definitely no shortage of love for Salei when the news had spread. I am sure he would appreciate all the kind words spread across the internet in his praise. Whether his wife saw all of this, I am unsure but she would be happy to know what people had to say.
As we all know, today is the anniversary of 9/11. It was a horrible day and I am sure nobody will forget where they were when this happened. I was in the 4th grade and when I walked downstairs I remember seeing my family watching the television crying. Being so young, I didn’t truly understand WHAT had happened. It wasn’t until later on when I really understood exactly what happened.
I did not know anyone who died that day, but like most I have read the stories and watched the videos. The pain will never go away for those who have lossed. The one thing I love to see is the amount of people tweeting/blogging/posting etc. about this. It keeps us strong and united. Though it may not seem like much, some people do appreciate these kind gestures.
Always remember, never forget.
