It’s Been A Rough, Rough Summer..

We have suffered the passing of Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard, Canucks center Rick Rypien and Preds forward Wade Belak.

Well this morning, we all woke up to the terrible tragedy of the plane crash in which the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL were on it. Their entire main roster, along with four prospects were on the flight. 43 total were killed, including 8 crew members from the plane. If you have google translate, you can see all the players here.

The Ducks lost one of their own in defenseman Ruslan Salei. Other former NHLers on that flight were St. Louis Blues Pavol Demitra, Red Wings assistant coach Brad McCrimmon, Stars defenseman Karlis Skrastins and Devils prospect Alexander Vasyunov.

Another terrible tragedy to the hockey world. An entire team, gone in a matter of minutes. There really is not much to say/do about this situation.

Here at FanSided Network, we have all been mourning the loss of so many people. The editor over at Cardiac Cane came up with a fantastic idea how we can show respect to all the passengers on the flight. We have decided to do a Twitter moment of silence at 9am on Friday. At exactly that time, we will tweet “#KHLmomentofsilence” and follow with 60 seconds of complete silence.

I strongly encourage all of you to join in and show your respect. We will continue to tell people on Twitter about this event throughout the entire week.
