Anaheim has signed a multi-year extension with the Crunch and with the recent signings of two assistant coaches, it is time to take a look at their coaching staff.

Head Coach: Mark Holick

Holick will begin his first season with the Syracuse Crunch, after spending the last three seasons with the Kootenay Ice compiling an impressive 120-75-10 record. in the 2009-2010 season,  Holick guided Kootenay to a 43-24-3-2 record, earning the prestigious Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s Coach of the Year. He led Kooteney to three playoff births.

Before coaching in the WHL, Holick spent 13 years as either a head or assistant coach in both the British Columbia Hockey League and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Holick will become the 5th head coach of the Syracuse Crunch following (Jack McIlhargey, 1994-99, Stan Smyl, 1999-00, Gary Agnew, 2000-06 and Ross Yates, 2006-10).

Holick has a ton of coaching experience and will work well with the young talent.

Assistant Coaches: Brad Lauer and Marty Wilford

-Lauer was most recently an assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators from 2009-2011.  Lauer was an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Admirals from 2007-09, Nashville’s AHL affiliate In 2008-09, he helped guide the Admirals to a 49-22-3-6 record a Western division title. He also spent five seasons with the Kootenay Ice during which the team had two 100 point seasons.

-Wilford recently retired from professional hockey where he played in Italy and Germany.  In 539 career AHL contests from 2000-07, he notched 47 goals. 228 assists and 573 PIM as a defenseman.  This will be his first season coaching.
