Ducks Host the Avalanche
By Editorial Staff
The Ducks will be hosting the Colorado Avalanche for their second timethis season. Their first meeting was in Colorado on February 5th, where the Ducks took a 3-0 win. This is a MUST win for the Ducks who are currently on an 0-4-1 slide. The Avalanche however, have dropped 3 in a row and have lost 12 out of their last 13.
With an incredibly tight western conference race, these two points are needed. Seriously, look at that conference, unbelievable. The 13th place St. Louis Blues have 65 points and the 4th place Coyotes only have 10 more points. It’s anybody’s game. A win would put the Ducks at 71 points, in contention for the 8th spot with the Calgary Flames. Most of the teams in the western conference teams do not play tonight, but unfortunately the Predators take on the Blue Jackets and the Flames take on the Blues. The ideal situation would be for the Ducks to win, the Flames and the Predators to lose. Take a look at the standings, the Ducks NEED TO WIN!!
The Ducks are going to need to watch out for the newly acquired Chris Stewart, who scored two goals against them when he was with St. Louis
The Avalanche will be without Galiardi and O’Byrne tonight. Adam Foote is also questionable, but he has traveled with the team. Saku Koivu and Jonas Hiller are still listed as day-to-day. It is unlikely to see Hiller back in net tonight, so who gets the start, Emery or Ellis?
Ellis got his first start for the Ducks, looking decent by stopping 24 out of 27 shots faced. Emery may get to make his first NHL start in over a year, if deemed ready.
Game starts tonight at 8pm est.
