Ducks In Leafland

Why is Jiggy starting against the Ducks? Whose sick joke was this? Is it because he knows Selanne’s moves and may be able to stop him better?

It’s going to be a difficult game to watch for any dyed in the Pond fan because you want your canards to win, but you also don’t want to see JSG fail.

Especially when his ex-compatriots say nice things about him.

Teemu Selanne: “He did so much for our hockey club for so many years. It’s going to be a little different to play against him.”

Randy Carlyle: “Jiggy was a real hard-working foot soldier for our hockey club. He probably was part of the face of the franchise for number of years. Orange County is a better place because of Jiggy’s presence.”

Gaaah! I’m in Dante’s Inferno!

Darkness of Hell and of a night deprived

of every planet, under meager skies,

as overcast by clouds as sky can be,

had never served to veil my eyes so thickly

nor covered them with such rough-textured stuff

as smoke that wrapped us there in Purgatory;

my eyes could not endure remaining open

But in true hockey style, JS had some positive words to impart: “I’m going to be really excited to play against [Anaheim]. Obviously, I know so many guys on that team. It’s going to be fun to suit up and compete against those guys that I used to play with. It’s going to be some kind of day for sure.”

From the Orange County Register: Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said it was impossible to not feel something for a goalie who wore the Ducks sweater with distinction. Giguere holds the club’s goalie records for victories (206), shutouts (32) and goals-against average (2.47).
