Bobby Ryan Hat Trick & Blues Are Sore Losers

It’s lovely when your team is winning, but it’s even sweeter when your two closest adversaries are losing at the same time.

The San Jose Sharks have lost six straight (longest losing streak in 15 years) and the Kings blew it once again just a day after the Ducks practically steamrollered the Blues.

Dallas and Phoenix are obviously still thorns in our sides, but the cohesion Anaheim has been seeking since the beginning of the season is finally beginning to coalesce.

With Captain Ryan Getzlaf out with a split forehead and busted nose, Bobby Ryan has stepped up his game and even managed to notch his third career hat trick against the Blues – his first on home ice.

Everyone’s been talking tons about Cam Fowler (me included), but the dude whose sneaking under the radar once again is Dan Sexton.

Danny’s bounced back and forth between the Ducks and the Crunch so many times, the kid’s gotta be seasick by now, but his attitude and fortitude have never faltered and I hope the Ducks realize they need to carve out a permanent space for the little guy. I mean, c’mon, he’s 5’10” and he managed to take out Jumbo Joe and then later endured a Shane Doan hit, but kept on playing. Big Sexy’s got “Chelios” written all over him! (I mean the toughness, not the ‘tude)

And, of course, how could we possibly leave out the ramped-up play of Jonas Hiller and Corey Perry? Both have made huge contributions (and are going to the All Star Game) in recent weeks and everyone’s looking for more of the same in the coming months.

On Wednesday Anaheim made St. Louis very blue indeed, not only beating them 7-4, but also dominating in the fisticuffs division.

If I listed all the fights and tried to untangle the mêlées, I’d be here ‘til next Wednesday. Suffice it to say, Sbisa is beginning to channel his inner freight train, no one rams Sexton and doesn’t pay dearly for it, and I believe the arena announcer is still in his booth reciting all the penalties racked up during the game…including three fighting majors within 18 seconds.

Here’s a couple viddies of the end of the game:

And what’s a Ducks post without a Parros fight? I almost felt sorry for Jackman, but he did crosscheck Georgie a couple of times and we all know ya don’t mess with the ‘stache.
