Ducks Top Dogs In 3-1 Win Over ‘Yotes

Ever notice how dull the stories are when the Ducks win?  Nearly every site just quotes the AP report to the point I can practically recite the interviews verbatim.

What about the excitement Jonas Hiller and Luca Sbisa created?  Lupul’s denied goal? The funny Parros/Bissonnette scrap (in which Parros pulled Biss’ sweater over his head and then pulled it back down)?  Ryan Getzlaf getting popped by the puck and needing 10 stitches?  Andreas Lilja making almost as many saves as Jojo?

As Sbisa said of the game (in which he scored his first NHL goal), “I think we came out with a lot of fire, a lot of passion.”

And from Corey Perry, “We chipped it in, got on the forecheck and played that grinding game…Look at how the goals were scored…It was that grind game that got us going.”

One of the only reporters (surprise, surprise) who bothered to get beyond the AP story was the L.A. Times’ Helene Elliott (her article is here).

Grinding really is the best way to describe this game.  Everyone busted out with everything (which they haven’t been doing for the last three or four games).  Perry scored his 20th goal of the season, Hiller made 31 saves, Cam Fowler once again made it look ever so easy and Brezgy broke down, giving up all three goals in the first period.

I’d write more, but right now I gotta go fish my car out of the flood so I’m gonna let the viddies do the talking.  As they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words.
