Flames vs Ducks – Do Or Die…?

facebooktwitterreddit

Tonight we face the Calgary Flamers, a team we haven’t beat at home since 2004, so our fairly well rested boys should be more than up to running roughshod over Jarome Iginla and the rest of his crew.

The loss to the Canucks was not unexpected, but the good was easily outweighed by the bad and the ugly by a longshot.  You’ve heard of sleepwalking?  Well, now you’ve seen sleepskating.  Not only couldn’t the Ducks hold a third period lead, but we actually saw George Parros go down and stay down, Cam Fowler skating as if he was encased in molasses and McElhinney’s forehead busted wide open – which meant a still exhausted Hiller was forced to take the ice.  At that point, the loss was practically a depressingly foregone conclusion.

Both teams are (I can’t believe I’m writing this yet again) in a must win situation.  I’m so sick of that phrase.  It would be ever so nice to – just once – say that a loss wasn’t the end of the world!  C’mon Ducks!  You’re better than this!

As always, Oggi’s will host a watch party tonight, where the Street Team will hand out free merch and attendees can enter to win undefined autographed stuff or a trip to Alberta.  Details is on the Street Team’s Facebook here.

The official Anaheim booster club, The Die Hards, will be hosting their holiday party tomorrow at OC Sports Grill.  Festivities begin at 12:30pm and for a measly fifteen bucks, you get a pasta buffet, free swag and a mystery Duck!  Jake the Blog Guy will MC a trivia challenge during the event, so it should be amusing to watch semolina-based food items bursting from excited participants mouths.

More information about how to become a Die Hard and their upcoming events (including a roadtrip to Phoenix next month) can be found here.

From the Die Hard’s official website:

We are a dedicated group of fans who choose to align with an elite team, in order to spread the love of our sport and our devotion to the Anaheim Ducks.  We are ambassadors of our team, promoting and contributing, through charity, to the advancement of youth hockey and to the betterment of our fellow fans and to those in need.  We are proud to stand strong for each other and stand strong for our team.

We have just started to see, in recent years, NHL-caliber players developing in Southern California. We are proud to be able to support young players and their families in reaching for and achieving their goals in the education of our favorite sport, working hand in hand with the Anaheim Ducks organization and the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.

We will also be partnering with the Anaheim Ducks to support other charitable causes, such as Children’s Hospital of Orange County.  Watch our website for specific opportunities in which we will all participate.
