Sorry, dear readers, that my posts have been so few and far between, but lemme tell ya something boyos…BROCHITIS SUCKS!

I feel like I’ve got about 3% lung capacity, my chest aches from all the coughing and did you know that the lining of your esophagus has the exact same look, texture and thickness of horror movie latex?

Now, on to the Ducks!

Winger Joffrey Lupul may very well miss the start of the season due to a blood infection that cropped up soon after he underwent surgery for a herniated disc.  He’s been ordered to sit on his couch feeling frustrated until he has completed his course of antibiotics and will be reevaluated September 20th.

The procedure known as Micro Endoscopic Discectomy is usually preferred as the incision is much smaller than if a classic discectomy is performed and recovery time is generally much shorter.  You can check out the animation here (I love the tiny bandaid at the end of the sequence).

What worries me is that I recall a similar incident last season where a player underwent the exact same procedure and developed an infection that could very well have spread to his spinal column and ended his career.

What kind of surgeons are our guys being taken to anyway?!

For those of you who are interested, care or are simply biting your knuckles in abject fear, the Ducks will unveil their Third Jersey on November 26th when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the Ponda.  My hope is that the jersey is so ridiculous, that the ‘Hawks will be laughing too hard to play properly.

Headline: HUH?

During the off season, the Ducks posts interviews with various players.  Most of the questions and answers are pretty predictable, but I was simply baffled by Todd Marchant’s answer to the following question.

How do you feel knowing that you are one of just six players left from the 2006-07 title team?

My family and I, this is our home. I feel very strongly about the philosophies and the direction that this organization has gone in and is going in. I want to be a part of it. Hopefully, for us, we can get off to a strong start as a team and be a team that, come March, we’re not looking to get rid of players because we’re not making the playoffs, we’re looking to tweak or add a player to make a strong run into the playoffs.

Bobby Ryan is not cooperating

Despite assurances from the Ducks and Bobby himself that he wants to remain a Duck, this is taking waaaaaay too long.  Ryan turned down a five year deal, claiming he didn’t want to be signed for more than three years.

The Ducks have Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf for three years and if all three go all free agent at the same time, that would be a royal pain.

Bobby has been saying for months now that he is not holding out, but if he isn’t “holding out”, then why isn’t he signed yet for heck’s sake?

Finally, a cool clip from Conditioning Camp.  Keep your eyes peeled for the speed and grace of Emerson Etem and Cam Fowler flat on his face.
