There’s nothing worse than watching a grown man cry.

Wait, yes there is. Watching hundreds of grown men cry. I think I even saw a tear in Bailey’s eye.
The only truly wonderful moment of the game was Froly’s wrapparoo. You could’ve had four guys in front of the net and I still think the puck would have found nothing but twine.
Vancouver proved their mettel fair and square and the final handshakes were among the most respectful I’ve ever seen. But that still doesn’t make the pill any easier to swallow for the Kings faithful.
Staples wasn’t quite the morgue it should have been. After all, the dreaded Canadian empire is only a two hour flight away, and the fishheads were out in force.
Losing the first round is bad enough. Losing on home ice is devastating. But then again, I don’t need to tell you guys that.
What makes this loss even more heartbreaking is that for the first time since 2002 there was a chance – a QUANTIFIABLE chance – of the Kings having a stab at the Cup.
If Only, If Only, If Only…
**Sigh** Well, now out will come the aphorisms, pontifications and industry-standard “just wait until next season” comments. We all know the drill, but this year there’s a truly bright spark of hope. Just look at the development of the kids. Dustin Brown has been a solid Captain, willing to lead by example (even to the detriment of his pretty face). Drew Doughty is a finalist for the Norris Trophy (he found out from a text from a Maple Leaf). Fropitar make a wickedawesomesweet duo a la Sid and Nancy – oops, sorry, I mean Geno or even The Doublemint Twins. For one, brief, shining moment, Los Angeles became Hockeyville and it will again. I gaurandamntee it.
Tonight I’m pulling for the ‘Yotes and the Preds (sorry Frank). Our fishy friends can go youknowwhat themselves and now that the Devils have been knocked out of contention, my next wish fulfillment will be to yell “SIDDOWN!!!” to HockeyTown.
