Changes Coming for Ducks?

facebooktwitterreddit

I know this is about the fifth article I’ve written about who might be traded or fired from the Ducks, but the rumors and articles just keep popping up around the internet from reliable and unreliable sources alike.

Take, for example, the articles written about Head Coach Randy Carlyle and what his fate might be for an underachieving Ducks team. Sports Illustrated wrote about him here, Yahoo! wrote briefly about him here, ESPN mentioned it here, NHL Fanhouse wrote about it here, I wrote about it here, and the OC Register has mentioned it numerous times as well.

Something that might be working against Carlyle is the fact that the current GM Bob Murray did not hire him. NHL GM’s typically like to choose their own coach to run the team they built, and it might not be a surprise if Murray let’s Carlyle go. Also, Murray had a brief two-year stint as a GM in Chicago over a decade ago and fired two coaches in his tenure. Just a little food for thought…

The trade whispers are starting to get a little louder as well, even though the Ducks have put in two solid performances in their last two games. The Ottawa Sun, a newspaper that always has interesting and not always accurate rumors, has the Ducks’ GM looking to trade for a scoring winger:

NOT A SITTING DUCK

Sources say Anaheim GM Bob Murray is itching to make a deal with his team off to a rough start (4-6-1 heading into play last night). Murray would like to add some scoring depth. C Todd Marchant is likely available, but there’s not much of a market for role players these days. The guy everybody wants from Anaheim is W Bobby Ryan and he’s not going anywhere.

I wrote about other trade rumors that have come up in this article, and you can be sure there are others that I haven’t even found floating around on the internet. Also take into consideration that there have been quite a few injuries to top players this year, as I wrote about here, and you would assume it might not be too difficult to find a trade partner.

So with that being said, should the Ducks make any more changes in light of their very recent success, or should we continue to wait? Let the discussion begin…
